Most of the titles I picked up were already on my TBR list, although a couple are books I've read in the past – just never bought my own copy until now. Lots of really good stuff here:
Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood
A Closed Eye by Anita Brookner
Diana of the Crossways by George Meredith
Frankenstein (Modern Library Edition) by Mary Shelley
A Ghost in the Machine by Caroline Graham
The Hours by Michael Cunningham
Ignorance by Milan Kundera
Loving Frank by Nancy Horan
Loving/Living/Party Going by Henry Green
Lydia Cassatt Reading the Morning Paper by Harriet Scott Chessman
A Month in the Country by J.L. Carr
Slouching Towards Bethlehem/Play It As It Lays by Joan Didion

But the weather this weekend has been perfect for curling up with a good book – cold, rainy, gray. No good reason to go outside. And now that I've had my book sale adventure, I think I'll go pour myself another cup of coffee and spend the rest of the evening lost in the land of books. That is, if I can tear myself away from this computer for a few hours!
Library sales are the best! I just came back from my local $1 bookstore with some great finds. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThe Hours was one of my favorites the year I read it and I loved Alias Grace, too. Great haul!
ReplyDeleteMy library has a monthly booksale. I've been dying to get over there the last couple of months and haven't made it there. Now I probably won't get there until April's sale, but you're right. Library sales are the best.
ReplyDeleteThose look like fun! Since I'm on a no-book-buying resolution, I had to strenuously avoid my library book sale. But last year I went, and it was wonderful! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your fun finds. It looks like they are in great shape too. Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteYou got some great books at the book sale! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteYou got some good stuff and it looks like it is in pretty good shape too!! I loved the Hours. And I found myself agreeing with your statement...I think I like the idea of her books better than the books themselves...I've found that to be true of a few authors out there.
ReplyDeleteI did a good find at a fleamarket held where my parents live, so good week :D
