The List
(In roughly alphabetical order,
with links to announcement/signup posts/pages.)
The challenges listed here are, in general (although it's not a strict rule), year-long challenges, open to everyone. I don't usually list read-a-thons, read-alongs, "personal" challenges, or challenges linked to special days or time periods.
This list is NOT meant to be a complete list of ALL the reading challenges available for 2019. It's mainly just challenges that seem attractive to me. And I'm not necessarily recommending any of these — just keeping track.
Also ― I haven't signed up for ALL these challenges! I'm sure I'll be joining in for a few, but definitely not all. (See the challenges I'm participating in HERE.)
Two more things. In general I'm not a fan of the "check list" type of reading challenge with a bunch of set categories — so I'll list a few, but not every one of them. Also, I don't do a lot of social media hanging out, so if a challenge is being hosted primarily on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram, you probably won't find it on this list.

This is great. As 2015 comes to a close, I've been looking for reading challenges to contemplate joining for the new year.
ReplyDeleteSo many challenges! If only there was time to join in on them ALL! lol Thanks so much for including mine in your listing today :)
ReplyDeleteAh this challenge tab is so awesome! Thank you for this. I'm going to try to not go crazy this year :P
ReplyDeleteI just posted my own challenge if you want to take a look (:
Thanks for featuring the #ShelfLove Challenge. We would love to have you on board!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic list here! I need to find an hour now to sift through these and make my choices for 2016.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for a very thorough list of Challenges, I found many here that I am now considering!!
ReplyDeleteYou might want to include this one, too.

Thanks, Jamie. I've added it to the list. I had seen something about the MIA challenge earlier, but couldn't figure out if it was still active.
DeleteWow these are great---thanks for including mine!
ReplyDeleteAnd this one, too;

Hi, Jamie. Thanks for pointing the way to this challenge. Actually, though, there are so many "check-list" type challenges out there like this one, I decided not to include them in this list. I sort of think of them as personal reading goals-lists which, while they are definitely valuable tools, tend to differ from individual to individual. I thought about including the POP-Sugar list, since it seems to be the most popular, but in the end just decided to do a separate listing of all the checklists -- I just never got around to it!
DeleteOh, all right.
DeleteThanks for sharing the Deal Me In challenge & great work on creating this list!
ReplyDeleteThanks! This list is very helpful! ;3
ReplyDeleteOne snag though: Hippes Read Too's blog is giving me a 404 error. http://readingeveryseason.hippiesreadtoo.com/2015/11/warm-up-for-winter-reading-challenge.html
Thanks for linking Literary Distractions! Would you mind updating the link to "http://www.literarydistractions.com/2015/12/14/2016-b-y-o-b-reading-challenge/" please? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi, Mary! No problem. I think the links are all updated now.
DeleteThis is very helpful. I found several I'm going to try. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for the ones for 2017, but there aren't very many yet. I got all mine posted on my blog in October. I'm doing three new ones as well as the one I did this year. A list is up here:

Joy, I hope I can entice you to any of my 4 this time! As always: they run February 1 to January 31, so finishing them off never takes up time at Christmas! :) Sincere thanks for listing me again! Gratefully, Carolyn Of RIEDEL Fascination.

I am unsure how often you pick up messages at Goodreads. Even though Blogspot does not make commenting easy for Wordpress or rural internet and rejects them, if there is a captcha; I had better see about adding my 3/4 2019 groups that are ready.

GENTLE SPECTRUMS 2019 is done as well, Joy! Thank you dearly for not using a captcha. Happy new year 2019, for us all! Yours, Carolyn https://cmriedel.wordpress.com/gentlespectrums-2019/

ReplyDeleteHi Joy -- I'm hosting the European Reading Challenge again in 2021, for the 9th year now! Can you add it to your list? I'd appreciate the boost! It makes a nice crossover with other "read the globe" or "books in translation" challenges. And we'd love to see you back. Here's the link to the sign up page with more information: https://www.rosecityreader.com/p/2021-european-reading-challenge.html
