This week BTT asks this question: Do you ever crave reading crappy books? And I had to think a while to come up with my answer.
Which is: No, I don't think I do.
Of course, one reader's crappy is another reader's thrilling entertainment. I indulge in all sorts of reading. If I really considered any of it "crappy," I wouldn't waste my time on it.
Would you?
I'm going to enjoy seeing how others answer this.
I agree completely. If I think a book's bad, I'll stop reading it and move on to something better. There are too many good books out there to waste time on the junk.
ReplyDeleteYou have a point there!

You know, I've been thinking of writing a post about this exactly... having put down a book yesterday only 40 pages in. I could go no further. Maybe I should participate in this hop this week too!
ReplyDeleteI didn't join in this week, I didn't quite understand what was meant by crappy, but went back and read the article where the question came from, and I can say, No I don't crave or read crappy books. Although I did watch the movie "The Notebook" which this article considered "The Notebook" a crappy book.
ReplyDeleteCrappy or not, it is based on somebody's preference in books. Everybody has their own opinions. Head over Clandestine Sanctuary to know what I think about this question.
ReplyDeleteSeems pretty obvious that busy book bloggers like us wouldn't waste our time reading books we sense to be "crappy" or have no interest in. Are we that desperate for material that we'd delve into something we can't stand? I don't think we'll ever run out of "good" books to go that far :D

ReplyDeleteDo ever crave reading crappy books?
Sometimes you just want to turn your mind off and be entertained. They're like romantic comedy chick flicks.
My answer is also 'no' -- even when I want to turn my mind off and be entertained, I have GOOD books for it. ;0
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think it really depends on a reader's own preference.
ReplyDeleteI think crappy doesn't always mean bad. bad book is one that is poorly written. Crappy can be cheesy. I think I'll know a bad book when I read one, and might very well abort it for another (better) book. :)
ReplyDeleteGood point! :)
ReplyDeleteI try to avoid crap too!
