If you want to let the world know what books you're going to be reading this week, head on over to her blog and leave your link.Last week I finally finished The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. It's a big book, and it took me a couple of months to get through, even though I enjoyed it a lot. I kept getting flashes of A.S. Byatt as I was reading, although I think Morton is a little better than Byatt at telling a really ripping yarn. Hoping to get a review up later today, if things go well. Now I'm looking for that next read. I've been looking at several books, but haven't settled down with any of them yet. So here's how things stack up:

Damaged, by Alex Kava (This is an ARC and I really should get to it.)
Whiter Than Snow, by Sandra Dallas (Picked this one up at the library, but haven't started it yet. I've heard good things about it, but it looks a little depressing. Might not be the greatest summer-time read.)
A Ghost in the Machine, by Caroline Graham (One of Graham's Inspector Barnaby mysteries, which I love. Probably the one I'll go with. The Barnaby books are always a treat.) - Next up:
I have Fever Dream, the newest addition to the Pendergast series by Preston and Child, and the new Rick Riordan, The Red Pyramid coming from Amazon this week. So those might be possibilities, too. Also have several reviews in the works that I really need to get finished and posted. Also a bunch of recently-acquired books I need to add to my Library Thing listing. So I've got a lot to keep me busy. And as the temperature today is supposed to get up to at least 90 degrees, staying indoors and playing with my books is sounding more and more appealing!
I have to agree with you on the weather. Even though my husband says I need a little sun - staying inside and catching up on reviews sounds much better to me!

ReplyDeleteI've added the Morton book to my wishlist. I've heard mixed reviews, but I think I'd like to check them out for myself! I'm glad you liked it!
ReplyDeleteI just started The Dark Rose, Book Two of the Morland Dynasty by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles. I really love Book one and hope this one is just as good or better!

I would suggest "Damaged", as it is a good, compelling, quick read! I really did like it, especially after slogging through some 'not so great' books! I just finished listening to the audiobook "Fever Dream" - very very good! I gave it a rare 5 of 5 stars! Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest-of-the-week!
