Another challenge I decided to pass up in 2015, and lived to regret it. The Finishing the Series Reading Challenge was originally hosted by Yvonne @ Socrates' Book Reviews, but is now being taken on by Bea @ Bea's Book Nook.

In the coming year, I'm hoping to read more of the books I already own; and I'd really like to finish up at least one or two of the many, many series I have going (many, many, MANY series). So this challenge is perfect for me. Another good thing: reviews, at least short ones, are a requirement -- and I have so much trouble getting reviews posted, maybe that will be the added incentive I need.

I'm being very conservative and signing up at Level 1 (Novice series reader: complete one series), and I'm not going to choose which series right away -- but it will likely be one of these:

• The Mrs. Malory mystery series, by Hazel Holt: 21 books in series / I have 4 to read
• The Flavia de Luce mystery series, by Alan Bradley: 7 books in series / I have 4 to read
• The Lord Peter Wimsey mystery series, by Dorothy L. Sayers: 15 books in series / I have 9 to read
• The Inspector Barnaby mystery series, by Caroline Graham: 7 books in series / I have 4 to read

Challenge Wrap-Up: 2014 Finishing the Series Reading Challenge

The 2014 Finishing the Series Reading Challenge was hosted by Yvonne @ Socrates' Book Reviews. It runs through this month, but I'm pretty sure I won't be finishing any series before January, so I'm wrapping it up now.

I have a bunch of series going (mostly mystery series), and at the beginning of 2014 I wasn't really sure which one(s) I wanted to concentrate on for this challenge. I ended up changing my mind a couple of times, and finally decided to go with Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe books. Didn't finish the entire series this year, but I did read two of the books out of the seven that I still need to read: The Lady in the Lake, and The High Window. Didn't manage to get them reviewed -- I pretty much wiped out on reviews this year; hoping to do better in that area next year.

Still, I loved both of the books I read, and want to thank Yvonne for hosting this one. Now the question is: Should I sign up for the 2015 challenge?

OK, I really messed up with the 2013 edition of this challenge.  I signed up to complete one series, and not only did I NOT complete the series - I didn't even read any of the books in the series.  So I'm going to give it another try.

Once again, I'm signing up at the first level (finish one series).  I'll probably try to complete the Mrs. Malory mystery series, by Hazel Holt (I have three books to go). But I have quite a few other series I could work on (see my list HERE), if I get that one wrapped up.

I had almost decided not to sign up for this one in 2013, since I wiped out in the 2012 edition. But I think I'll give it one more go.  I'm signing up at Level One (Complete one series): I still need to finish up the Mrs. Malory mystery series by Hazel Holt (2 books to read), so that's the one I'll concentrate on.  But if I finish that series, I have quite a few others I can work on (see my series blog for the various lists).  And during the year I'll be tracking my progress on my challenge blog, HERE.

Finishing the Series Reading Challenge 2012

See the guidelines on the announcement/sign-up page here. There are three levels to choose from; I'm signing up at the first level (complete one series), and I'll be trying to finish up the Mrs. Malory mystery series by Hazel Holt -- I need to read three more books:

• Mrs. Malory and the Lilies That Fester
• Mrs. Malory and No Cure for Death
• Mrs. Malory and a Death in the Family

There are a couple of other series I'd like to finish this year, too -- but I don't want to promise more than I can deliver. As the year goes along, I'll be tracking my progress on my challenge blog here.
