This week's Tuesday Thingers topic is all about the style of your library display at LT:Have you explored the different styles? Have you customized any of the styles? If so, what are your favorite customized items (isbn, Dewey Decimal, Reviews, Book-Swap, etc)?
And my answer, once again, is no. I haven't explored the different styles or done any customizing. And now that I've looked at it, my first reaction was "too many choices!" It's a little overwhelming at first glance. I'm not sure I'll really use it, but I might like to play around with it a bit.
I had seen that notice that some LT users' libraries have about a "suggested display style," and wondered how they did that. Now I know – there's a little menu at the bottom of the page where you can select the style you want to recommend. Right now I'm using Style B (Cover, Author, Title, Date, Tags, and Comments) and I don't think I'm likely to change that; but it's an interesting option.

I agree that the number of options is a little overwhelming. I am shallow..I just want it to look nice and be easy to use.

ReplyDeleteI also use Style B, but I've modified mine to show the reviews. I never use the comments field, so it was just wasted space.

Once again, we agree. I think that a person can spend hours on such sites. My objective is quite selfish; I'm just keeping my reading record with LT--that's it!
ReplyDeleteOption B is definitely winning the day!I'm looking at much the same fields as you and I'm pretty happy with it. Common Knowledge is a nice idea but I'm finding that a lot of my books have no information and I really don't want to run the risk of looking at al those spaces and being drawn to spend hours filling in the gaps!

ReplyDeleteToo many choices was my first thought too. And yes, we often joke that Emmy is doing kitty yoga. She's very good at it!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I never noticed the option to recommend a certain style - I simply changed my Style A to be what I wanted to see. :)
