This week my teaser lines come from The Past, a novel by Tessa Hadley (first published in the UK by Jonathan Cape, September 2015). This quote comes from page 26, or Location 317 of the Kindle edition:
Among his messages there was one from his mother, which he didn't read, and one from the girl; he decided before opening this that if she used any form of text-abbreviation, which he despised, then he wouldn't respond.I do so agree with Kas about text-speak: It should be ignored. But he really should read that message from his Mum.
-- Where r u Kas? she wrote.

Ha! Yes, he should read that message from Mom.
ReplyDeleteI'm playing today too at Beth Fish Reads.
I really HATE text-speak...but what can we do? My kids and grandchildren only ever text...except for my second son, who calls me on the phone...regularly. How sweet is that?
ReplyDeleteBut this book intrigues me. I read another from this author, Clever Girl, and enjoyed it. Although parts of it were annoying. But I did give it four stars.
Thanks for sharing, and here's mine: “FIND HER”
Ok, this looks too. I agree about the textese but he REALLY needs to check in with mom!
ReplyDeleteI can empathize with that mom whose son(s) ignore her messages!
