Teaser Tuesdays: The Greek Coffin Mystery

This week my teaser lines come from The Greek Coffin Mystery, an Ellery Queen novel.  I haven't actually started reading this yet — just picked it up today. And I haven't read any Ellery Queen since I was a teenager; I'm hoping I'll enjoy them now as much as I did then, but you never know. Don't remember this one, so I'm thinking it's one I missed, even though it's fairly early in the series (number 4, I believe).  I'm reading it on the Kindle, so I'm not sure about page numbers, but this bit is from Loc. 694:
The men lowered themselves cautiously into the black pit, and for a few moments the confused sounds of their hoarse voices and scraping feet could be heard. Then something large and shiny and black crawled into view....
Well, that sounds a little more like H.P. Lovecraft than Ellery Queen, doesn't it? Can't wait to find out what's going on.

  1. Very intriguing, and I know from the author it is a mystery. Hopefully a decent one!

Welcome and thanks for leaving me a comment. I love to hear from visitors.

Also, please note that while I appreciate the thought, I don't play the blog awards game. I think you all deserve awards! But you might think about becoming a follower of my blog -- that would really be the best award.
