Booking Through Thursday: Cover

This week's question over at BTT: CAN you judge a book by its cover?

And the answer is....

Of course not. I'd like to think you can, but we all know it doesn't always work that way. But I'm a sucker for a pretty or well-designed cover, so I also like to keep pretending that it does.

Actually, when I think of some of the books I've read, I realize the best thing about them was the cover.

And, just for decoration, here's a shot of one book I bought mainly because of the cover. Haven't read it yet, but I know in my heart of hearts that no book can ever live up to this:

  1. I have been disappointed many a time by a book because of it's lovely cover. Will I learn? No. I do think it does work sometimes though. I have picked up a few of my favourite authors because of the covers of their books.

  2. I am a sucker for beautiful covers, too, although covers are often misleading.

  3. I also can't skip over a book with a beautiful cover. It's like the publishers did this on purpose or something! Hahaha. (: I've managed to read a lot of bad books because of it, and skipped over a lot of good ones, unfortunately.
    But Happy Thursday!

  4. That IS a gorgeous cover! I am drawn to covers, but that's only part of my selection process....and sometimes, it has nothing to do with the cover, but with an author I love.

    Here's MY BTT POST

  5. What a pretty book cover ... it is so easy to be drawn towards the beautifully designed covers :)

  6. I've been like you and purchased a book for its cover. I guess there are worse things to do! Love that cover you featured. I think the gap between the art of writing and covers is that two different artists have different visions.

  7. You really SHOULDN'T judge a book by it's cover, but I do.

  8. It's the first thing that attracts your eye,but you shouldn't judge what's inside by it.

  9. OK maybe I'm in the minority but I never judge books by their covers.

  10. I love really cool covers. I'm not one for classic, flowery covers but more of an artsy, mod look. This does look yummy, though!

  12. You definitely cannot judge a book by its cover or a lot of other things as well. I found that out recently.

  13. Basically I don't go by the covers, but there have been times I bought a book because it had a nice cover. Of course the story has nothing to do with the cover - you can have a great cover, bad story and vice versa but we all know that.

Welcome and thanks for leaving me a comment. I love to hear from visitors.

Also, please note that while I appreciate the thought, I don't play the blog awards game. I think you all deserve awards! But you might think about becoming a follower of my blog -- that would really be the best award.
