Teaser Tuesdays: Teasing the Old Man

Well, this week I'm still making my way through Elaine Dundy's The Old Man and Me. Seems like I've been reading it for weeks. It's really not a long book, and shouldn't be taking this much time, even for a slow reader. April was not a good reading month for me, for some reason. Hoping to do better in May. Anyway, here's our Heroine (Honey), the little gold digger, working on C.D. McKee, the Old Man of the novel's title:
"Oh, well, he's awfully handsome and all that," I said this slowly and looked worlds at C.D. while I was talking to see if he was receiving what I'd put into 'all that' and if it was disconcerting him. He had and it was. [p. 132]
Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. If you'd like to read more teasers, or participate yourself, head on over to her blog. And these are the rules: Grab your current read; Let the book fall open to a random page. Share with us two (2) "teaser" sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12. You also need to share the title of the book that you're getting your "teaser" from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you've given! Please avoid spoilers!

  1. Interesting cover, though. Some books just take longer to get through. My teaser and giveaway info is here Have a great week and happy reading!

  2. I don't know how you do it. I find that when I read slowly, I grind my teeth at the author. I much rather zip through a book so that I don't lose parts. (I am old, and it's easy to lose things!)

  3. Sounds like an interesting book. Is it the book that's slow to read? The one I am working on is a bit slow too and I'm not sure if it's me or the book. Ya know?

  4. Interesting book. The little golddigger is the narrator? Sorry your book is so slow. My "bedtime" book is very slow too but it does the trick every night and I'm out within ten minutes. lol Have a happy day.

  6. I love the cover.

Sometimes certain books that I read seem to take much longer...Its not that they aren't interesting; I think some are just slower paced. :)

  7. Some books are slow reads - sometimes because they're very good, sometimes just the opposite. I hope this is one of the good ones.

    My teasers are here.

  13. Sometimes I get stuck in a book that takes forever for no reason. Then I get frustrated and have to read fluff for the next few books. Well, okay, I don't really need a reason to read fluff :)

Also, please note that while I appreciate the thought, I don't play the blog awards game. I think you all deserve awards! But you might think about becoming a follower of my blog -- that would really be the best award.
